Today we had an awesome guest speaker at our school! Michelle Scheeland came to talk with our high school students and 8th graders about her incredible journey of becoming an acquired savant. She also brought along Dominique Castaneda through a video call, which made the experience even more exciting.

Michelle explained the difference between a savant and an acquired savant. A savant is usually born with amazing abilities in certain areas, like math, music, or art, while an acquired savant develops those abilities later in life, often after a brain injury or major neurological event. It was really interesting and eye opening for our students to learn about how the brain works in such unique ways.

Dominique shared the website he created, dominiquecastaneda.com, and students got to check it out during the presentation. It’s super cool, creative, and interactive—and he would love for everyone to try it out!

We are so thankful that Michelle took the time out of her day to share her story with us. It was an inspiring experience, and our students really enjoyed it!

Mrs. Stanton’s Anatomy students had an amazing time during their pig dissection lab! This hands on experience gave showed the students firsthand how body systems connect and function.

There was lots of curiosity, teamwork, and learning as students applied what they’ve studied in class to a real world setting. While it was definitely a memorable and fun experience!
